WASHINGTON—Representative Scott Franklin issued the following statement in response to the passing of Representative Don Young:

"Representative Don Young was a leader, a patriot, and a stalwart champion of Alaska. For nearly 50 years, Rep. Young walked the halls of Congress and served during some of the most notable chapters of our country's history. As the dean of the House of Representatives, he set an example of lifelong public service for younger members. He will be dearly missed by his colleagues and I ask that you join me in keeping his family and friends in your prayers."
