Franklin Votes To Secure American Elections

Today, Congressman Scott Franklin (FL-18) issued the following statement after voting in favor of H.R. 22, the SAVE Act, which passed the House by a vote of 220-208:

“Free, fair and secure elections are the cornerstone of our democratic republic.  Every American should have confidence their vote counts AND that elections are free from undue influence. That starts with ensuring only American citizens vote in American elections.

“While the vast majority of Americans oppose noncitizen voting, many states continue to find noncitizens on their voter rolls due to inadequate safeguards. The SAVE Act helps address this by requiring states to verify citizenship when registering individuals to vote in federal elections.  This isn’t a partisan issue - it’s a needed step that protects the voice of every lawful voter.  I urge the Senate to pass this bill and send it to the president’s desk.”
