Franklin Votes for Recissions Package to Continue Needed Fiscal Sanity
WASHINGTON, DC,
June 12, 2025
Congressman Scott Franklin (FL-18) today issued the following statement after voting for H.R. 4, the Recissions Act. The measure passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 214-212:
“President Trump promised to tackle waste, fraud and abuse in our federal government. Through Executive Orders and DOGE, he is keeping that promise. Congress has a duty to the American people to codify this promise into law. This rescission bill is a critical step in that process. While $9.4 billion won’t erase a $36 trillion national debt, it sets the tone for our broader effort to rein in wasteful spending and realign federal priorities with the values of the American people.
“H.R. 4 rescinds $8.3 billion in foreign aid and $1.1 billion from NPR and PBS—programs that have become vehicles for woke ideology and bloated bureaucracy. This bill targets the kind of waste, fraud and politically driven spending that hardworking taxpayers should never be forced to fund.
“This is just the beginning. Tackling our national debt will take sustained effort, consistent leadership and a willingness to root out the entrenched mismanagement and corruption that’s been allowed to fester for far too long. The House is doing the hard work to claw back runaway spending through reconciliation and H.R. 4 is another step in that process. I urge the Senate to pass this measure without delay.”
