Franklin Opposes ACA Subsidy Extension

“The high cost of health care for Americans will not be solved by continuing to throw taxpayer money at a broken system. Extending enhanced premium tax credits without zero reforms to lower health care costs is not the solution. We must address the drivers of rising premiums and out-of-pocket costs. These enhanced credits were enacted as temporary COVID-era relief and were intended to expire after the pandemic. Rather than extending a flawed policy, Congress must pursue lasting reforms that reduce costs and target assistance to those who truly need it.

“Just last month, House Republicans had a package of reforms on the floor to lower premiums that were rejected by every single Democrat. Subsidies have doubled since 2020 alone. More money will not solve this problem. We must implement critical reforms, or we will never achieve affordable healthcare for all.”
