Franklin Opposes ACA Subsidy Extension
WASHINGTON, D.C.,
January 8, 2026
“The high cost of health care for Americans will not be solved by continuing to throw taxpayer money at a broken system. Extending enhanced premium tax credits without zero reforms to lower health care costs is not the solution. We must address the drivers of rising premiums and out-of-pocket costs. These enhanced credits were enacted as temporary COVID-era relief and were intended to expire after the pandemic. Rather than extending a flawed policy, Congress must pursue lasting reforms that reduce costs and target assistance to those who truly need it.
