Franklin Statement on Final House Passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act
WASHINGTON, DC,
July 3, 2025
Congressman Scott Franklin (FL-18) today issued the following statement after voting for H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act: “Today’s final House passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act marks a major milestone in delivering on the results the American people voted for. With both chambers of Congress having approved the bill, it now heads to President Trump’s desk for his signature. “This landmark legislation is the result of months of hard work, negotiation, and determination. Despite repeated stalling tactics by House Democrats aimed at delaying or derailing the process, congressional Republicans stayed focused and got the job done—passing the bill ahead of the July 4th deadline, just as we promised. “While no bill is perfect, this one delivers meaningful progress on the issues that matter most to hardworking Americans. It provides critical tax relief to working families and seniors, expands the child tax credit, and introduces significant deductions for tip income and overtime pay. Small businesses will benefit from the extension of the pass-through income deduction and pro-growth reforms that encourage investment. “Importantly, the bill achieves over $1 trillion in long-term savings through targeted reforms to Medicaid and SNAP—reducing fraud, encouraging work, and helping safeguard the future of these essential programs. These are fiscally responsible choices at a time when our national debt continues to climb. “The bill also strengthens our national defense, reinforces border security, and closes loopholes that allowed illegal immigrants to access taxpayer-funded benefits. It equips law enforcement with the tools they need to uphold our immigration laws. For Florida’s agriculture producers, it cuts burdensome regulations and restores the flexibility they need to keep rural communities thriving. “It’s morning in America again. The people asked for a new direction. And under President Trump’s leadership, we are delivering on that promise.” ### |
