Congressman Scott Franklin (FL-18) today issued the following statement after voting for H.R. 3944, the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act:
“As a veteran and member of the House Appropriations Committee, I take seriously our responsibility to care for the men and women who serve in defense of our nation. This spending bill reflects that enduring commitment. It delivers the essential resources our servicemembers, veterans and their families have earned, while modernizing the infrastructure and support systems they rely on at home and abroad.
“The bill strengthens national security by advancing strategic military construction in the Indo-Pacific and reinforces safeguards to prevent adversaries like the Chinese Communist Party from exploiting federal resources. It also reaffirms our duty to veterans by fully funding health care and expanding support for those facing mental health challenges, suicidal thoughts and homelessness. These investments reflect a commitment to protect their well-being and quality of life after their service and sacrifice. I will continue fighting to ensure our nation stands by those who defend our freedom and that every dollar we allocate advances the values and security interests of the American people.”
The measure passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 218-206.
