WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman Scott Franklin issued the following statement regarding today’s final passage of the 2024 Water Resources and Development Act (WRDA).  The bill passed the House 399-19.  It now heads to the President’s desk to be signed into law.

“I was happy to support final passage of this year’s WRDA bill, which contained key FL-18 projects that I have consistently championed—like the Western Everglades Restoration Project and the Lake Okeechobee Component A Reservoir (LOCAR).  These projects are critical to the larger Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Project, a model cost-share water restoration project that has already yielded excellent results in the rehabilitation of the Everglades and South Florida’s waterways.

“This legislation also takes steps to enhance transparency for federal water projects, reduce regulatory burden efforts and streamline projects that help bolster our economy. I’m pleased WRDA passed with overwhelming, bipartisan support and urge the President to sign the bill into law without delay."
