WASHINGTON—Representative Scott Franklin (FL-15), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, issued the following statement in response to a report that the Biden Administration plans to remove the FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) from the list of designated foreign terrorist organizations:
Once again, the Biden Administration is signaling weakness to our enemies and allies through its plan to remove the FARC as a designated terrorist group. The FARC are a ruthless terrorist group responsible for the deaths of countless innocent people. For decades it has used extortion, kidnapping, murder, terrorism, and drug trafficking to threaten regional security.
The FARC has allied itself with the worst actors in our hemisphere, including the Maduro regime in Venezuela, and has proven to be an international menace. Thousands of Colombian Americans living in Florida know all too well the terrible crimes this group has committed. It is on their behalf that I call on the Biden Administration to cease its plans to remove the FARC from the list of designated foreign terrorist organizations.
