WASHINGTON—Representative Scott Franklin (FL-15) issued the following statement after voting against H.R. 5376, also known as the “Inflation, Recession, and IRS Army Act”:

“Inflation is at a 40 year high and Americans are struggling just to get by, paying more for everything – especially rent, gas and groceries. Sadly, the Democrats’ solution to everything is to spend more money – the very thing that created runaway inflation in the first place.  This bill, pushed through on straight party lines, will raise taxes, double the size of the IRS in order to target hardworking Americans, and further increase inflation during a recession with hundreds of billions of dollars in new spending for Green New Deal initiatives.  Democrats know voters will reject their extreme agenda at the polls in November, so they are ramming this costly monstrosity through as a last gasp and handing American taxpayers the bill. I opposed this reckless legislation and will continue to fight the Democrat’s pro-inflation agenda that is destroying the American Dream.”
