WASHINGTON—Representative Scott Franklin (FL-18), a member of the Pro-Life Caucus, today voted in support of two pro-life bills. The first is H. Con. Res. 3, which condemns the recent attacks on pro-life facilities, groups, and churches. The second, H.R. 26, the Born-Alive Survivors Protection Act, makes it a federal crime to fail to provide standard medical care to children born alive during an abortion. Franklin was a cosponsor of both bills in the previous Congress and is again in the 118th Congress.

Last summer, the LifeChoice Pregnancy Center in Winter Haven, Florida suffered a terrorist attack like many facilities across Florida and the nation. In response, Franklin led a letter with the support of 125 colleagues, demanding the Department of Justice investigate these attacks as incidences of domestic terrorism.

“I’m proud to support a resolution which clearly states with the voice of Congress that we condemn terrorist attacks against pro-life organizations and a bill which will protect the lives of babies born alive during abortions,” said Rep. Franklin. “Condemning terrorism and protecting babies should be bipartisan issues, yet we see little to no support from our Democrat colleagues. These two pieces of legislation are the first step toward fulfilling Republicans’ promise to defend life with our majority in the House.”
